Heartland Brewing, Radio City location, New York City

We went to New York City and when we got there it was lunch time.  We went to Heartland Brewing.  The tenders were good because they had lots of flavor and the fries were good too.  They have lots of beers and daddy tried one.   It was the Christmas beer.

Later we went to see the Rockettes Holiday Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall.  We even saw where they host the today show and we went up the 30 Rock building.  It was beautiful.  I saw the Empire State building.   And I also saw Central Park from up high.

We also saw the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree and skating rink.  There were a lot of people waiting to skate on the ice rink.

We took a bus home and didn't get back until one o'clock the next morning.  It was a very long trip.

Rock Bottom Brewery, Arlington, VA

We went here after seeing Santa Claus at the Pentagon City Mall.  My little sister fell asleep in the car as we drove to the restaurant and when we got there we had to wake her up and she threw a fit because she was still tired.

The tenders here were yummy because they had the usual breading.
The fries were skinny.

My little sister got so mad that she screamed a lot and dad had to take here back to the car and wait for mom and I to finish. 

Firebirds Wood Fired Grille, Leesburg, VA

 The Grille served great tenders.  They had really good flavor to them.  When you put ketchup on them it doesn't taste good.  They are best plain.  They serve you free Oreos with your kid's meal.  You get two sides.  The fries were O.K. because they did not really have any flavor to them.  It is located in a very good spot by Wegman's supermarket. 

Sweatwater Tavern. Sterling, VA

Sweatwater Tavern was great because it had batter that I have never seen before.  It tasted very good because the batter flaked off of the chicken.

There is a great view of a large pond that had lots of ducks in it.  In the summertime it would be great to sit on the patio.

Pizzeria Uno, Reston Town Center, Reston, VA

We went to the Reston Holiday parade.  There were hundreds of people lining the street.  Before the parade volunteers handed out big Christmas bells on on lanyards.  The parade had Nutcracker ballerinas and big balloons of snowman and clowns.  The parade also had dancing swing dance clowns.  They were not scary.  There were lots of old cars and high school bands.

We were not planning to eat, but my little sister got hungry and had to have fries immediately.  Mom took sissy to Pizzeria Uno, which was just down the block.  Dad and I came later and joined.  I ordered macaroni and cheese.

The macaroni and cheese was very creamy.   I found other types of noodles in the mac and cheese.  I found a long spaghetti noodle.  How did that get there?  I also liked the bread.  This is good mac, but it is nothing special.

Macaroni Grill, Reston, VA

Macaroni is my all time favorite macaroni and cheese ever.  I love the cheese they put on the noodles.  We were the first people there and they gave us two loafs of bread!  I like that you get to write on the tablecloth with crayons.  They also have excellent candy.

Lost Dog Cafe Arlington, VA

 
The best pizza I have ever had.  The cheese was coming off.  And I really loved the crust.  I had some of my mother's milkshake and it was excellent.  I recommend this place a lot for everyone.

The walls are covered with paintings of  dogs.  One picture is disturbing because a dog seems to be looking directly at you.

They have many beers on tap, which is always popular with my father.

Velocity 5 Sports Pub Sterling, VA

I didn't really like these.  The chicken tenders were not very spicy.  The tenders had little taste.  The french fries were good.  Not worth going here again.

Captial City Brewing, H Sreet, Washington, DC

 I loved the tender batter.  It had flavor.  The chicken was juicy. The fries were OK.  The location was by China Town.  The kids workbook was just OK.  It had mazes and Tic Tac Tow.  We parked at a meter right in front, and we just had enough change for one hour!

Editors Note:  They had recently run out of their seasonal pumpkin ale.  That is a crying shame. 

Taste of DC Festival, Pennsylvania Ave Washington, DC

After visiting the Smithsonian Museum of American History, we saw that the Taste of DC was happening on Pennsylvania Avenue.

We bought chicken wings at a stand.  The wings were juicy and tender.  I really like the batter they put on it.  And the little portions were very good.

Next we bought fried oreos.  They were good because they took some regular oreos, coated them in something, and put them in the fryer.  Then they game out as these oreos that are breaded, but they had oreos in the middle.

Dad got into the fun by trying the pulled pork and nacho cheese covered tater tots.

Little sister was happy to meet the Washington Capitals Eagle, who shook her hand and gave her a high five.  She kept calling him a big, big, chicken.

Delia's Pizzeria and Grille Sterling, VA

The hot chocolate tasted like heaven.  It had whipped cream on top and it made the top of the hot chocolate creamy.  It is as good as the hot chocolate at the Village Inn in Riverview, Fl, which is the best.

The chicken tenders were also good.  The french fries has a batter mix which made them really good.  This place is known for the best pizza in the DC metro area.

Editors note:  The menu says the Discovery channel filmed at one of their locations and named them best pizza in DC.

Santini's New York Style Deli Sterling, VA

The tenders were not very good.  They didn't have much seasoning.  They were bland.  They were certainly out of the bag and not home made.  Next time I will try the pizza, which looks good.

Mad Fox Brewing Falls Church, VA

We went to Mad Fox Brewing Company and the chicken tenders are heaven.  I would grade it A++++++++++++++++.  All the tenders were moist and home made.  Not out of the box.  The batter had a very good seasoning.

The french fries were hand cut.  Little sis who is a fry expert thought they were too soft.  Maybe too salty.

The home made root beer was sweat tasting with not much pop.

These tenders are tied with Sarasota Brewing for best tenders ever.

Washington Nationals Park

The tenders were soft and the fries were very, very good.  They were just right.  The Sprite was spectacular because it tasted so good.

Editors Note:  Dad does not share this opinion.  These were standard out of the box frozen chicken tenders fried by volunteer vendors and appropriately overpriced for the ball park.  The Sprite was watered down. 

Gordon Biersch Brewery, Tyson's Corner, VA

I loved the home made root beer.  It tasted like real genuine root beer not like you have every day.  What I didn't like was that they put pepper on the chicken tenders.  They were still good.  It added a spicy taste. They were very, very big and made from scratch, not from a box.   The potato chips were O.K.  They were home made, not the regular potato chips you would usually have.  They did not have much salt or seasoning.  The restaurant is very nice too.  And I like their fries.  I did not get a chance to play the games on the Kid's menu, except for a maze and a drawing.

Fireworks Pizza Leesburg, VA

The Kid's pizza was only alright.  The wood fired pizza was burnt with a really thin crust.  The cheese and peperoni were very good.  The Arbita Root Beer with Louisiana cane sugar was delicious.  The outdoor patio was pleasant but very crowded.  They do not serve French fries..

Macoroni Grille

Macaroni Grille is awesome.  I love to go there.  In my opinion it is the best macaroni ever.  Its just regular pasta, but they add lots of cheese so its very cheesy and I just love it because it tastes so good.

Los Toltecos Mexican Restaurant

Sterling, VA

The kids meal chicken tenders are very good.  They are juicy and tender.  You should try them.  On a scale or 1-10 these are a ten.
